That evening, Gustav Mahler's Second Symphony, known as "Resurrection", will be performed. The "Resurrection" symphony consists of five parts, each of which has a deep philosophical and religious subtext. Mahler called the first part "Feast", in it the composer asks questions about the meaning of life and suffering. In the fourth movement, "Primeval Light", the word expressing the thirst for deliverance from the hardships of life is heard for the first time.

Mahler found the text for the final choir in the poems of Friedrich Klopstock, adding his own lines to them. It is from these words that the symphony received its name "Resurrection".
