The last 30 years, the life and work of Currentzis have been inextricably linked with our country, although his homeland is Greece. The world of music attracted him already in childhood, so from an early age he studied violin and piano. Theodore received his higher musical education in Greece, and then in the mid-90s he came to Russia. His main goal was to work as a conductor, so he entered the St. Petersburg Conservatory and studied with the world-famous conductor and music teacher Ilya Musin. 

Already in 2004, Teodor Currentzis took the post of chief conductor of the opera and ballet theater in Novosibirsk. It was then that he founded a choir and orchestra called musicAeterna. In 2011, the conductor became the artistic director of the Perm Opera and Ballet Theater, thereby opening a new page in the history of the theater and his career. During his 8 years of work in Perm, Currentzis made this city, along with Moscow and St. Petersburg, another musical capital of the country. 

In 2019, Currentzis changed his place of work again: he and his orchestra found a new home in St. Petersburg, in the House of Radio. Since June 2019, the House of Radio has been the official residence of the orchestra, choir and creative laboratory MusicAeterna.

Currentzis leads an active creative life: he takes part in various festivals and competitions, is one of the founders of the Territory contemporary art festival, and is also the artistic director of the International Diaghilev Festival. In 2022, Currentzis founded the international Utopia Orchestra, which united 28 musicians from different parts of the world. 

The conductor regularly performs in various cities of Russia, records new programs and presents new works. His inherent creative courage and originality allow him to take on the most complex works.
