In mid-May, Teodor Currentzis and the musicAeterna orchestra will perform at the Moscow Tchaikovsky Conservatory!
The program will feature Richard Strauss's Symphony No. 5 and Four Last Songs. This cycle of works for soprano and orchestra was compiled after the composer's death by his friend and admirer, Ernst Roth. The works reflect the images of Spring, September, Falling Asleep, and Sunset, which have repeatedly become the object of interpretation for Currentzis and his ensemble.
The first three songs are based on poems by Hermann Hesse, and the last one is based on texts by Joseph von Eichendorff. The uniqueness of Strauss's works lies in the harmony of the soprano and French horn timbres, which distinguishes them from other compositions. The program also features Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky's Symphony No. 5 in E minor, created in 1888 and first performed in St. Petersburg under the baton of the composer himself. This symphony has been winning the hearts of listeners around the world for many years thanks to its profound philosophical drama, unfolding through four parts, each of which touches on the eternal questions of human existence.
Purchasing tickets to the musicAeterna concert at the P.I. Tchaikovsky Conservatory will give you a unique chance to enjoy these masterpieces performed by the renowned conductor Teodor Currentzis.
