MusicAeterna and Teodor Currentzis will present the project "Fragments" ("Fragments")

On December 4, the online premiere of a new joint project by Teodor Currentzis and musicAeterna with Sony Classical will take place.

Throughout 2021, the Fragments project will present a series of audio and video recordings of scenes from operas recorded during the lockdown at musicAeterna's home residence, Radio House in St. Petersburg.

The musicAeterna orchestra conducted by Teodor Currentzis will perform the prelude to the third act and Violetta's aria "Addio del passato bei sogni ridenti", soloist Nadezhda Pavlova.

Teodor Currentzis shared about the project with Sony Classical:

This is a project that I have been dreaming about for a very long time... to make an opera when there is enough time to create this music the way you want; care only about the true essence of the work, and not about how feverishly to finish everything in three days. Well, we seized this opportunity and decided to creatively use this difficult period of time that we all go through... While theaters and concert halls are closed.

This seemed like a very good time to rethink our approach to making music so that we could finally reach the very depths of musical text. This project is a collection of fragments, scenes from various operas. We strive to restore the lost beauty, richness of aromas and colors that were sacrificed on the altar of the mainstream and the music industry.
