The musicAeterna choir and orchestra under the direction of Teodor Currentzis will perform at the P.I. Tchaikovsky Conservatory in Moscow
The musicAeterna ensemble, which has about a hundred members, began to be created in 2004 in Novosibirsk. Inspired by European early music ensembles, Teodor Currentzis assembled an orchestra and a choir, which over the years have evolved into versatile ensembles performing works in a wide variety of genres. In 2011, after Currentzis was appointed artistic director of the Perm Opera House, musicAeterna became part of this theater, existing in parallel with its old orchestra. However, in 2019, the maestro left Perm, taking his musicians with him, despite contractual obligations until 2021. Since 2014, Currentzis has been a citizen of Russia, which he considers his home and where he has found many talents for his ensemble.
During his time in Perm, Currentzis began to actively perform Mahler's symphonies, especially highlighting the Resurrection Symphony, which has acquired important significance in his repertoire. This work, full of tragedy and philosophical reflections on life and death, continues to attract the attention of listeners around the world. In 2025, Currentzis is scheduled to perform this symphony in Milan on March 26 and 27 at the Auditorio Nacional de Música, which promises to be a significant event of the season, given the success of his previous performances in this city.
The concert of the musicAeterna choir and orchestra under the direction of Teodor Currentzis in Moscow will be a unique opportunity to enjoy one of the most impressive works of the Austrian composer.
