The orchestra and choir "musicAeterna" under the direction of the outstanding conductor Teodor Currentzis will visit the Krasnoyarsk Regional Philharmonic with a concert

Teodor Currentzis is rightfully considered a unique phenomenon in the modern music world. His performances always surprise with their depth and virtuosity. Currentzis is also one of the organizers of the Diaghilev Festival, which regularly delights the public with bold innovative projects in the field of theater, ballet and music. In 2011, he took the post of artistic director of the Perm Opera and Ballet Theater, in the repertoire of which, thanks to him, symphonies by Mahler, operas by Mozart, Verdi, Pascal Dusapin and Dmitri Kourliandsky, as well as choral works by Philippe Hersant appeared. Currentzis left the Perm Opera in 2019, but Mahler's Second Symphony, known as "Resurrection", remains the hallmark of "musicAeterna".

The Krasnoyarsk Regional Philharmonic, with its majestic interior, excellent technical equipment and superb acoustics, will be the ideal place to open the tour. Mahler's Symphony No. 2 is one of the most grandiose works of its time, the pinnacle of the great thinker and humanist. He worked on it for several years, starting with the first part. Inspiration for the finale came to Mahler after the death of his friend and idol Hans von Bülow, when the composer heard Friedrich Gottlieb Klopstock's spiritual song "You Will Resurrection". The completed concept of the symphony was formed only in 1893-1894. Mahler left instructions that the first movement should be separated by a five-minute pause, although after his death conductors often deviated from this rule. Nevertheless, Teodor Currentzis and his orchestra will perform the symphony in the classical version conceived by the Austrian maestro himself. This work, imbued with mourning and grandeur, deeply touches the soul of the listener, reflecting on loss, fear of death and humility before higher powers, if there is faith in God.

Attending a concert of the choir and orchestra "musicAeterna" under the direction of Teodor Currentzis at the Krasnoyarsk Regional Philharmonic is an opportunity to touch the eternal masterpiece of the Austrian composer, which encourages us to think about the transience of life and the meaning of the divine in our existence.
