Channel One made a documentary about Teodor Currentzis

The film centers on Teodor Currentzis, a Russian conductor with Greek roots who radically changed traditional ideas about classical music in the early 2000s. This iconic musician, who has won numerous prestigious awards, has become a symbol of a new cultural era and an inspiration for thousands of fans both in Russia and abroad. He calls himself a "nomad", and this is quite consistent with his lifestyle. It is almost impossible to catch him in one place. Throughout his life, Currentzis has been in constant motion, striving for the ideal of musical art, which, thanks to his efforts and the orchestra, receives a new sound on the most prestigious world stages.

The film crew had a rare opportunity to follow the famous conductor from Moscow to St. Petersburg, communicating with him both on the road and at home - before morning rehearsals and late in the evening after the concert. They observed his work not only during triumphant moments on stage, but also during long hours spent with the musicians of his orchestra. The conversation with the Maestro turned out to be sincere and open. Viewers will be able to learn about his views on freedom, dreams, perception of time and homeland, as well as about delusions, love, beauty and much more.

The creators of the film focused on how music fits into the conductor's life. In the film, Teodor Currentzis shared his memories of his first steps in the profession, how inspiration influences his work, as well as difficult performances, sleepless nights and dreams in which incredible ideas come to him. He talked about his feelings on stage, his perception of music and his close relationships with every musician whose name he knows.

The documentary features pieces from the most striking concert programs of Teodor Currentzis and his orchestra musicAeterna, which celebrates its 20th anniversary in 2025. This film reveals the image of a true romantic and dreamer, capable of realizing even the most daring ideas. No further proof is needed that Teodor Currentzis is unique - it is obvious to everyone.
