19 December
The Great Hall of the Moscow Conservatory named after P.I. Tchaikovsky will host a concert by Teodor Currentzis and musicAeterna
Listeners will have the opportunity to enjoy Rubinstein's Piano Concerto No. 4 in D minor, which, despite its creation in the 18th century, remains relevant today. Also performed will be the captivating symphonic poem "Pines of Rome" by Respighi, immersing the audience in the atmosphere of majestic Rome in its heyday. The program will also include such works by Ravel as Suite No. 2 from the ballet "Daphnis and Chloe" and the choreographic poem "Waltz".
Teodor Currentzis, a native of Greece, began his musical education in St. Petersburg in 1994. Since then, his career in the world of music has been rapidly developing. He founded and directs the orchestra and choir "Utopia", and also created and heads "musicAeterna". In 2014, he became a citizen of Russia and actively tours with groups throughout the country and abroad. Currentzis is also the artistic director of the Diaghilev Festival in Perm, where under his leadership a music laboratory and lecture hall were created, offering a new perspective on world musical culture.
The symphonic poem "Pines of Rome" by Respighi, written in 1924, has already been performed several times by the orchestra "musicAeterna" under the direction of Currentzis. This work, creating an image of the Eternal City and its majestic pine trees, was previously presented at the Diaghilev Festival with the participation of soloist Andrei Baranenko.
Rubinstein's Concerto No. 4 was originally dedicated to the German violinist and music teacher Ferdinand David. Buy tickets to the concert of Currentzis and "musicAeterna" and you will get a unique opportunity to enjoy classical works performed by a world-class ensemble.
