Teodor Currentzis and musicAeterna: Unique Interpretations of Classical Music in Perm
Teodor Currentzis, a distinguished contemporary conductor, continues to conquer world stages with his unique approach to interpreting classical music. Born in Athens in 1972 to a musical family, Currentzis showed an interest in music from an early age. His path to the heights of art began with studies with Professor Georgi Hadjinikos and continued at the St. Petersburg Conservatory under the direction of Ilya Musin.
Currentzis began his career in Russia at the Novosibirsk Opera and Ballet Theater, where he founded the musicAeterna orchestra and choir. This ensemble quickly gained recognition for its authentic sound and deep immersion in the era, which became the conductor's calling card.
Today, Currentzis is the chief conductor of the Southwest German Radio Symphony Orchestra and the founder of the international orchestra Utopia. His collaborations with leading directors and composers have led to the creation of new musical works that were premiered on the stages of Perm.
