The Perm Opera and Ballet Theatre will host a concert by “musicAeterna” under the direction of Teodor Currentzis
Teodor Currentzis and his magnificent ensemble will present to the residents and guests of Perm one of the greatest works of Gustav Mahler - Symphony No. 2 "Resurrection" in C minor. This work, written for soprano, alto, mixed choir and orchestra, is considered one of the key works in the work of the Austrian composer.
Currentzis repeatedly turned to the works of Mahler, whose works are filled with philosophical reflections on life and death. The composer deeply felt the social contradictions of his time, which makes him one of the outstanding humanists of the 20th century. The Symphony "Resurrection" is the pinnacle of his work, in which the idea of the transience of life and the immortality of the soul is conveyed through a mournful musical narrative. Faith in God and the search for it are reflected in this work, and it is precisely such profound works that Currentzis is amazingly successful in, be it works by Mahler, Respighi or other composers.
