The concert of Teodor Currentzis and the RNMSO will take place in the Tchaikovsky Concert Hall at the end of April
This time, the maestro will take the stage not with his usual team, the orchestra and choir "musicAeterna", but with the Russian National Youth Symphony Orchestra (RNMSO). This is the largest youth project in the field of domestic orchestral culture, created in 2018 on behalf of the President of the Russian Federation V.V. Putin. The team deftly rethinks Russian musical traditions and world experience, solving three fundamental problems - artistic, educational and enlightening. This fits perfectly with the ideology of Currentzis and the principles of historically informed performance, that is, recreating the classics as they are and on the instruments on which they were planned to be performed when the work was created by the composer.
The program of the performance in the Tchaikovsky Concert Hall includes Gustav Mahler's 4th Symphony. It accompanies all of Currentzis's work, and he is one of the most outstanding performers of this work in the modern world. The focus on the center of art, its essence, meaning and future gives the conductor the right and opportunity to reproduce even such monumental canvases as the Resurrection Symphony. Currentzis strives to change the present of both art itself and his theater, orchestra, choir, singers and even the audience, and together with the RNMSO he will certainly succeed in this in May.
Currentzis is obsessed with the idea of discovering new formats and new genres, experimenting "on the edges" of genre fields, looking for new opportunities for musical theater, and his reproduction of Mahler, although very careful with the original source, still has a certain authorial coloring and rethinking.
Mahler's symphonic legacy has long occupied a special place in the work of Teodor Currentzis. Its breakdown, spiritual depth, humanistic ideals, confessional character and versatility are ideal for the conductor's temperament. In the version of Currentzis and his musicians, this work explores the connections between the transience of life and eternity, the earthly and the divine, between the individual and the transcendental, as well as between death and submission to it under the protection of higher powers.
Currentzis has repeatedly brought Mahler not only to various cities in Russia, but also abroad. The conductor's version was warmly received in Milan, Paris, and also in Asian cities.
Tickets for Teodor Currentzis concerts – an opportunity to hear classical works in a careful conductor's interpretation on the best stages of the country.
