Teodor Currentzis and the orchestra "musicAeterna" will perform symphonies by Mahler and Bruckner
It was founded in Novosibirsk, where Currentzis worked for several years, and then accepted the offer of the Perm Opera and Ballet Theatre. It was in Perm that the conductor's symphonies by Mahler and Bruckner appeared. He will carry them through all twenty years of the existence of the main brainchild of his life - "musicAeterna".
Today, the orchestra and choir are already twenty years old, and the founder of the group decided to celebrate this significant date with a large tour of various cities in Russia. The tour will begin with a grand performance in Krasnoyarsk, and already at the end of the first month of spring, March 26 Currentzis with the choir and orchestra will come to the sunny Spanish city of Madrid. On the 26th, Russian musicians will give a concert of Mahler's Second at the Auditorio Nacional de Música, and on the 27th, Bruckner's Ninth.
This is not the first time that Currentzis will be in Madrid. Several years ago, he and his group were already on tour in Spain, and the audience greeted him very warmly.
In addition, for the anniversary of musicAeterna, director Andrei Dublyakin shot a documentary film, Currentzis. There Are No More Like Him. The film tells the story of the last and most gifted student of the great conducting teacher Ilya Musin. The film crew traveled with the orchestra, choir and their founder for several days to different cities, concerts, and rehearsals. Currentzis himself very openly talks about what freedom is for him, how important music is, and how hard it can sometimes be to experience failures and the destruction of one's own illusions.
In Russia, Currentzis was one of the first to introduce the principles of historically informed performance - a unique trend in musical performance of the 20th-21st centuries. His goal is to recreate a work exactly as it was conceived by the author. That is why Bach, Mozart, Bruckner's unfinished ninth symphony, and Mahler's Resurrection symphony sound so accurately in Currentzis's performances. The conductor is very careful with original sources, he always turns to original works, and not to their editions.
Tickets for Teodor Currentzis's concerts "musicAeterna" - an opportunity to hear classical symphonies as they were conceived by their creators.
