Teodor Currentzis and the orchestra "musicAeterna" begin their anniversary tour
One of the most monumental works was written by the Austrian composer from 1888 to 1894, and immediately after the premiere it became clear that this is the pinnacle of Mahler's work. His symphonies have been performed by "musicAeterna" for twenty years, so it is logical that the anniversary tour will start with Mahler's "Resurrection".
March 20 - concert "Bruckner. Symphony No. 9" in "Lakhta Hall". Anton Bruckner's Ninth Symphony remained unfinished, but the three parts completed by the composer are a complete, exhaustively clear statement, which was once very harshly criticized by conductor Hermann Levy. However, in the end, Bruckner's symphony was performed - first in a greatly modified form, and then in the form intended by the composer. Teodor Currentzis and his orchestra will perform Bruckner's version. The meaning invested in the symphony is reflected in its themes: it uses themes from Bruckner's spiritual works, to which the composer gave symbolic meaning. Currentzis has been turning to Bruckner's work, as well as to Mahler's work, throughout his career and work with the orchestra "musicAeterna".
March 26 in the "Auditorio Nacional de Música" (Madrid, Spain) a concert of the orchestra "musicAeterna" with Mahler's Second Symphony. This is not the first time that Currentzis, an Austrian, has brought this spiritual composition to Madrid, so there is no doubt that the performance will be a sell-out.
