In March, Teodor Currentzis and the orchestra "musicAeterna" will give several concerts in Spain

As part of the performance, his orchestra "musicAeterna" will perform Gustav Mahler's "Symphony No. 2", "Resurrection", in C minor for soprano, alto, mixed choir and orchestra.

This is not the first time that Currentzis and his legendary orchestra have performed in Spain, and the concerts are always a long-awaited event in the cultural life of sunny Madrid.

Mahler's Second Symphony is written in five parts. The first three are instrumental, the final two are vocal and instrumental. The composer created one of his most famous works in 1894. The symphony was first performed in the winter of a year after it was written.

The first part of the symphony is a truly large-scale canvas, in which magnificent marches, monumental as the tread of the Roman legions, arise from the crushing basses. The finale of the symphony is based on the lines of a chorale to the verses of Friedrich Klopstock, "You will rise again, yes, you will rise again after a short sleep," and it is thanks to this that the general public knows the second symphony as the "Resurrection Symphony." The theme of death is very typical for Mahler in general - when he began to have health problems, it poured out in a powerful stream into his work, and now three centuries later, the maestro's symphonies and suites excite the minds and souls of listeners. And Currentzis is able to present even the classics in a way that they have never been heard before. His original reinterpretation of Mahler has long won the hearts of people around the world, and Spain is eagerly awaiting the performance of the orchestra "musicAeterna", founded and conducted by Currentzis.

Teodor Currentzis concert tickets in Spain – an opportunity to touch the immortal work of Mahler, to hear the classics in a completely new way in one of the best symphony halls in the world!
