On April 23, the musicAeterna orchestra and conductor Teodor Currentzis will perform at the Great Hall of the Shostakovich Philharmonic (2 Mikhailovskaya Street, St. Petersburg). The evening's program includes an anthology of music from the operatic legacy of the French composer Jean-Philippe Rameau. The "Rameau" project. The Sound of Light project, of which this concert is a part, was successfully performed in Russia and Europe from 2011 to 2019, and its studio version was released by Sony Classical.
About the project
The creators of the project define its main goal as an attempt to convey the nature of light through music. The concert design uses visual and lighting solutions in keeping with the aesthetics of the French Baroque. The program is made up of fragments from lyrical tragedies, opera-ballets, and pastorals by Rameau, united into a single dramatic whole. Elements of the stage action complement the musical part.
