The Great Hall of the Shostakovich Philharmonic

On December 9th, in St. Petersburg, at the Great Hall of the Dmitry Shostakovich Philharmonic, conductor Teodor Currentzis and the musicAeterna orchestra will give a symphony concert, "Chamberdzhi, Wagner."

The program will feature two works: Katya Chamberdzhi's oratorio "Nur zu weinen und zu singen..." ("Only to cry and sing...") for large orchestra, mixed choir, and tenor soloist to the verses of Joseph Brodsky, as well as the symphonic suite "Ring without Words" by conductor and composer Lorin Maazel, based on the plot of Wagner's tetralogy "Der Ring des Nibelungen." Tickets for the concert by Teodor Currentzis and his orchestra are now on sale.

The suite "Ring Without Words" follows the sequence of key episodes from Wagner's tetralogy, beginning with the overture to "Das Rheingold" and ending with the final chord of "Götterdämmerung." Lorin Maazel replaced the vocal parts with the sounds of musical instruments, which frees the perception, directing attention exclusively to the symphonic presentation that made Wagner immortal.

Katya Chamberdzhi's oratorio "Nur zu weinen und zu singen..." is based on Joseph Brodsky's poems about death. It emphasizes the relevance of the theme of life and death, which remains important at all times.

The upcoming concert offers wonderful opportunities to experience the finest examples of musical art and enjoy the perfect interaction between conductor and orchestra. Don't miss it!
