Description

The P. I. Tchaikovsky Conservatory, located in Moscow, is a significant cultural institution, famous for its Great Hall (GZK) - one of the largest and most significant concert venues in Russia and the world. The Great Hall, ceremonially opened on April 7 (20), 1901, seats 1,737 spectators and is a venue for concerts of outstanding Russian and foreign performers of classical music.

The building, erected according to the design of the architect V. P. Zagorsky, is decorated with portraits of famous composers created by the artist N. K. Bodarevsky. In 1901, an organ by master Aristide Cavaillé-Coll was installed in the hall, which in 2016, after restoration, began to sound again.

The Great Hall of the Conservatory serves as a venue for prestigious music competitions and festivals, including the International Tchaikovsky Competition. In 2010, a major restoration began, which restored the hall's historic appearance, including the stained glass window "Saint Cecilia".
