Tchaikovsky Concert Hall

Description

This main venue of the Moscow Philharmonic has been faithful to the traditions of high performing skills and impeccable taste for more than seven decades.

At the beginning of the 20th century, this building housed the famous Moscow-wide theater of the French entrepreneur Charles Aumont, then the Zon acting studio and the Theater of the RSFSR. In 1922, the building was given to Meyerhold, where the master staged his revolutionary performances here for ten years. He planned a grandiose reconstruction in the spirit of his ideas about the art of the future, but before the tragic events of the late 1930s, he only managed to install the foundation of the building in brick and concrete. In 1940, the Concert Hall was opened in the former theater premises, named after Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky in honor of the 100th anniversary of the classic's birth.

Its capacity is 1,500 seats, arranged in the form of an antique amphitheater.

The room has excellent acoustics, which allows the concerts held there to sound even better and brighter. Today, all the leading concerts of the best soloists, performances of various groups, opera, productions, as well as various festivals and music competitions are held here.

The P.I. Tchaikovsky Concert Hall is famous for its organ. It often hosts organ concerts with the participation of foreign performers with world-famous names. Every year, organ music festivals are held, which are very popular with listeners.

This is the main venue of the Moscow Academic Philharmonic, where works by Russian and foreign composers of different eras are performed, allowing listeners to get an idea of the historical development of music. The variety of genres is also striking: from classical symphonic to jazz works, from performances of folk ensembles to opera arias.

The Tchaikovsky Concert Hall poster is designed for both adult and young audiences. The Fairy Tales with Orchestra project has been helping young listeners discover the world of classical music performed by talented artists for many years now. The artistic word is read by leading actors of theater and cinema, for example, Evgeny Mironov, Marina Aleksandrova, Konstantin Khabensky, Sergey Bezrukov.
