About event
For the first time, audiences will be able to enjoy the adventure of the MusicAeterna Symphony Orchestra, performing chamber works from the album “The Seven Last Words of Our Savior on the Cross.” Joseph Haydn. Being one of the most significant musical works of the 18th century, this historical event will take place on November 12 in the city of St. Petersburg.
This cyclic musical composition was created in 1786 at the request of the canon of the Santa Cueva oratorio, Don José Saenza de Santa Maria. Using the last seven words of the Savior on the cross, Haydn created a unique musical solitaire game in which each part corresponds to one of these words. He compared his composition to a spiritual journey that plunges listeners into the depths of their own thoughts and experiences, and the music carefully leads them to the big finale.
MusicAeterna, under the direction of classical musician Dmitry Sinkovsky, creates a special atmosphere in which the music flows in every note, creating colorful images and exciting emotions. The irresistible performance of the symphony orchestra and its soloists leaves every listener with fresh sensations and a simultaneous desire to return to this work again and again.
The event will take place in the beautiful historical building of the State Academic Chapel, which will certainly emphasize the grandeur and greatness of Haydn’s work. The charm of the architecture of the place, coupled with stunning acoustics, will create ideal conditions for immersion in the world of music and emotions.
