About event
All lovers of classical music will have a wonderful evening on the stage of the Shanghai Oriental Art Center on October 25.
This evening there will be a classical music concert performed by the musicAeterna Orchestra, soloist Olga Volkova and conductor Theodor Currentzis. The concert program includes the Violin Concerto No. 1 and Symphony No. 5 in B-flat Major by Sergei Prokofiev.
In the first part, the program includes a violin concerto conceived by Prokofiev himself back in 1914. This work impresses with its non-standard composition, which includes two slow movements surrounding a bright and energetic scherzo. A distinctive feature of the solo part in this concert are complex technical techniques that are harmoniously combined with a gentle and lyrical melody.
The second part of the program is dedicated to Prokofiev's fifth symphony, written in the very days when he was returning from evacuation to Ivanovo. At this time, the composer also worked on the orchestration of the ballet "Cinderella" and created music for the film "Ivan the Terrible". Although the fifth symphony has no direct connection with the Great Patriotic War, it is an indirect response to the challenge of time.
